Side Glow Fibre Optic Cable (3mm)

Ideal for where you want a linear light source that has a neon look without the high voltages.

Side Glow Fibre is not as bright as neon but is very robust since it is made of solid plastic which can follow curves, straight lines, and bends to a lesser extent. This makes it perfect for edge lighting in handrails, Skirting Boards, Dado / Picture rails etc.

It has been used extensively in swimming pools for years and is also well suited for use in saunas, and steam rooms.

The 3mm Side Glow Fibre in the photos is illuminated with just one LED (from the torch) of a HTC One X Smart Phone.

An LED of 1 watt can run about 5-8 Meters of 3mm Side Glow Fibre Optic Cable without too much deterioration in light quality.

For longer runs more powerful LEDs or even repeater LEDs should be used.
