Power Supplies

We have a range of Power Supplies and LED Drivers including 12vdc, 24vdc, and Dimmable types.

The most basic is a Plug-top Power Supply with the Transformer housed in the plug itself - similar to a Mobile Phone Charger.

Then there are the Desktop type Power Supplies with a 3-Pin UK Plug and Lead to the PSU and the lead carrying the low voltage output.

The next type are the In-Line Power Supplies, sometimes referred to as LED Drivers. There are a variety of brands available, we stock Meanwell, and Scharfer, two very robust Power Supplies designed for long term use.

Important when installing ANY Power Supplies (PSUs):

The Power Supply used for the LED products should be of sufficient current, the LEDs will only draw the current they require from the Power Supply. Power Supplies should not be overloaded i.e the total load of the LEDs should not exceed the rating of the Power Supply.

Space should be left around the Power Supply to allow ventilation, this allows any heat from PSU to dissipate.

Power Supplies should be in an accessible area, there should be sufficient ventilation and an access panel for replacement of the PSU.

Cable between the output of the Power Supplies and the input to the LED product should be sufficient to carry the total load on it.
